Sequins aren''t special anymore

I was in Wally Mart recently and happened to notice a 20something girl and her buoyfriend (yes, deliberately misspelled that) standing at the ATM.  Since I notice a LOT of stuff around me, especially when it involves a pretty young thang, I looked at her shoes...LOVE my shoes and all shoes in the world...she had on a pair of flip flops...black soles and the straps were adorned (doncha love that word adorned???) with rhinestones.  I'm not talking about some of the latest, greatest, we're gonna cheat you make you believe they are rhinestones but they aren't rhinstones...these were the real deal.  Shiny, sparkly real rhinestones on a pair of FLIP FLOPS!!! Well, don't get me wrong. I love flip flops. I am SO glad they are an accepted shoe style....everywhere it seems.  But, hey, I do remember the days when rhinestones were strictly night time embellishments.  Seen on tiaras, bracelets, earrings....but wha the fuuuuuk?  Flip flops???? Excuse me while I  time travel and crawl into my 60's sanctuary of memories both peaceful and psychedelic.
